Apply to become a teaching assistant in Austria through Fulbright Austria
Since 1962, Fulbright Austria has administered the US English segment of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research’s (BMBWF) foreign-language teaching assistant program, processing applications submitted by US citizens who would like to teach English abroad. Austria benefits by having US citizens work to improve the English proficiency of its young citizens, and US participants gain useful classroom experience and first-hand insight into Austrian culture. By administering the USTA program on behalf of the BMBWF, Fulbright Austria is able to facilitate the fulfillment of its broad mandate to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of Austria and the United States.
In order to apply for the BMBWF’s teaching assistant program in Austria, you must be a US citizen and either already have a bachelor’s degree or plan on completing your bachelor’s degree by the summer prior to the start of the Austrian school year. Applications to teach English in Austrian schools during the 2020–21 school year will be accepted between November 15, 2019, and January 15, 2020. During the application period, you can update your online application as often as you would like prior to submitting it, but please note that Fulbright Austria will only consider applications that have been completed and submitted by the deadline.
